Category: A -Z of starting a business

The start of the month is a good time for new beginning’s, I’ve been thinking of updating the look of the blog, so I’m taking time out to do just that, you can leave any tips or suggestions you may have in the comment box below.

In the interim you can visit and like my page http://www.facebook.com/baiyejewellery and get all the yummy info on my jewellery, my quirky world and what I’m up to.

You can also visit my shop on Etsy at http://www.etsy.com/shop/angelbaiye and purchase an item.

So if you visit and the page looks a little scattered, it just means I’m still playing with themes and colours.

Would chat with you soon.

xoxo.

Writing my school essays at the moment, but thought I should take a break to update you on my exciting silver smithing class. My teacher was Victoria Delaney and I think I put up a link to her webpage in my last post, here it is again, she’s amazing and young (wasn’t expecting that after viewing her work and achievements).

It was a cosy class, we were supposed to be 3 students but Jack (who seems to be a serial defaulter) didn’t show. I shared the class with Angela, a retired teacher, who is also a student at a sculpture class. She is in the process of building a massive Red Indian head out of metal cans. She has attended some jewellery classes so she knew lot more about the processes, but I tried to soak up as much information as I could.

Our project was to create cufflinks out of a sterling silver sheet and chain, I decided I wanted mine to be amoeba shapes, instead of regular everyday shapes but during the course of cutting and shaping, Victoria decided mine looked more like clouds, so clouds they became!

Here are the pictures from the journey :), I don’t think I’ll be able to take this many again as it was quite distracting, but I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed the class.

I’m dead tired but decided to put up a post before I switch off.

First thing this morning I felt like calling the whole thing off, I was sooo scared, I was asking questions like what if no one comes? what if I’m dead bored? Can I handle this? well it turns out …….. I can.

The jewellery party was super fun,I had a really amazing day. I met all sorts of people, talked exchanged ideas and had a blast. I’d like to thank everyone that stopped by today, especially those that didn’t get invites but still showed up regardless.

For a first time event, it was pretty amazing, approximately 20 people showed up, some made custom orders, some purchased jewellery for mothers day while others silently browsed and moved on. We ate, laughed, took pictures and talked, I forgot my Laptop so there was no music *covering face* but there was hardly a dull moment. We even managed to spread some love dust on a couple, I’ll tell the story after Valentines, can’t let the cat out of the bag too early.

We had something called a wish list where everyone picked their most coveted items and got photographed in it. we’ll put up these pictures and anyone may contact me to order the pieces for these beautiful ladies.

Did I tell you guys I’ve enrolled for a silver-smithing course? that is step two of my plan, I’ll give you the details in another blog post.

Right now I’ve come to the end of the start towards making my hobby a business, from here on its a journey.

Here are a few unedited pictures, I would update the full album on Facebook as soon as I can.

Once again another month has arrived!!! Not just any month but the month of joy, good tidings and lots of cheer. The month of present’s, holidays, Christmas carols and decorations.

Deck the halls!!! Its the month of December!!!!

It herald’s the end of an age and ushers in the coming year, it is a time of celebration…………….the time of CHRISTMAS! when gifts are exchanged and Christian’s celebrate the coming to earth of their Saviour.

Its also a time of sullen reflection on the past year, hopes and dreams, plan’s and intentions, aspirations and promises of change…………….

It can make you quite sad………….

It has been one of those cold and long day’s, I slept really late last night……come to think of it, I didn’t sleep till early this morning.

I went to bed after reading and I just could not shut down, so I started thinking about Transformed and where I am now, I had so many plans for this year, most of them are still in blueprint form and ITS DECEMBER.

While thinking, I came up with ‘A- Z to starting  a business’ ………. I am going to spend the next couple of months practicing what I preach, in hopes that it would positively improve Transformed.
