Hi,
I’m new to blogville but really excited to be starting this blog. Its going to be an avenue for me to showcase my talent, work and passion. I love hand making jewelry pieces that are exquisite and one of a kind.
I’ve been wondering what piece to showcase first and found an old picture of an ensemble I made to wear for my cousin’s Family Introduction.
Marriages are such a big deal in Nigeria, most large families have 4 separate occasions that make up the family ceremony: The Family Introduction, The Engagement, The wedding and the Thanksgiving.
The family introduction is the first stage, this is when the grooms family meets the brides family and express the intention of the groom to marry their daughter. The elders of both families assemble, introduce themselves and grant their consent and blessing.
Usually the friends of the bride decided to wear the same fabric and for this wedding it was a blend of various shades of blue, I mixed mine with gold and made the necklace to go with it.
I can’t seem to find a picture of the day but here’s a pic of me in the dress and a yellow scarf (without the Bluebell Ensemble).
So in keeping with the Title of this post “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue”;
The pictures are something old,
The blog is something new,
The title is something borrowed and
The necklace is something blue.
Have a great day.
CIAO.
